New York based artist Kumi Yamashita has created a stunning series of photorealistic portraits, using only nails and a single unbroken sewing thread.
Kumi Yamashita uses all kinds of common objects to create arresting images, in her quest of exploring art beyond the confines of traditional media. Perhaps her most impressive technique is creating portraits by using a single thread weaved around a series of nails, on a white background. Constellation is an ongoing series of portraits which continue Yamashita’s exploration into light and shadow sculptures.
